What should we bring and pack for the trip?
When you come to sail with us keep it simple, you don’t need much, good sun protection hats, sunglasses, and lycra shirt (much better than tons of sun block), swimmers and a positive attitude is all you need to have the holiday of your life.
Big hard suitcases are not welcome on board, there is plenty of storage in each cabin, please bring a soft bag if possible.
How do you get power on board?
Matilda Mia generates power to operate all systems onboard via a large solar panel array with a backup diesel generator. We ask our guests to always be energy conscious and if you not in your cabin, ensure you have turned off the lights, fan and a/c. This will help us keep the batteries charged just with the solar panels.
How do we get fresh water on board?
All our fresh water is made from the ocean via a watermaker or desalinator which also has an energy consumption footprint. We try, like good sailors to be conscious of our water consumption, there is a shower on deck for rinsing off salt water so you can stay fresh during the day. Each bath room has it’s own private shower, we encourage to keep your shower short and easy.
How do you disposal of rubbish and recycle?
Onboard Matilda Mia we carefully plan our supplies and Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as often as possible. All our organic waste is kept seperate for compost, plastic bottles are not welcome on board as there is fresh filter water to fill your bottle as many times as you need, and all the plastic and paper of the supplies gets stored and dropped at a recycle pick-up.
