Green Sailing

Sustainable - Ethical - EcoTurism

On-board Matilda Mia we enjoy a strong commitment to the environment and local communities, as well as at all times attempting to be as self-sufficient as possible.

We are a sailing boat and we use the wind to move around as much as possible, as a result we constantly monitor weather forecasts and therefore plans and itineraries sometimes change, we do this in the best interests of all passengers and crew, with the commitment being to always be safe, have an enjoyable sail and reach our destination without rush.

If required we have 2 brand new Yanmar common rail diesel engines of 80hp, the latest technology with electronic panels and controls allows the engines to have a extremely high efficiency and to keep any emissions to a minimum as required under European regulations. These engines are serviced periodically and we always have extra spare parts onboard, engines are a very important safety aspect of the vessel for approaching marinas, anchorages and in case of bad weather.

Regarding energy consumption we run energy efficient 12 volt refrigeration and battery storage system with all power provided by solar panels.

For food and supplies we love fresh local markets where there is always something happening, no matter how remote you are and we endevour to be aware and use them where possible, we catch some fresh fish every now and then and always keep our food fresh and tasty.
